Walsall iron castings manufacturer, Castings has acquired the fixed assets and stock of Russell Ductile Castings (RDC) from its administrators for £400,000.
RDC, a subsidiary of Chamberlin, was an iron foundry serving the capital goods and energy market, with some overlap in products with Castings.
RDC ceased production in May 2024 when administrators were appointed. Chamberlin and Russell Ductile Castings employed 129 staff across its operations in Walsall and Scunthorpe when it appointed administrators at FRP.
The purchase of the assets was paid in cash from Casting’s existing resources upon signing the purchase agreement on June 14, 2024.
Castings plans to continue operating the Scunthorpe plant under a new 25-year lease with break clauses, which can produce castings ranging from 10kg to 7,000kg.
The directors believe this acquisition will diversify Casting’s product offerings and enable them to better serve their customer base.
