Low equipment sales in July highlight need for farm bill

Sales for 4WD tractors were up in July while other segments remained down, according to sales numbers from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

“July’s uptick in 4WD ag tractors is a bright spot after a slowdown of sales in June and May of 2024,” says Curt Blades, senior vice president at AEM. “However, we are still seeing softness across the subcompact tractor market after years of strong sales. We know the challenges facing the market are complex. This is why AEM is focused on advocating for the swift passage of a farm bill to provide the certainty farmers need to make these purchases.”

Sales in July 2024 remained well below the 5 year average.
