Cash boost puts Worcestershire road repairs in fast lane

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a cash boost which will see more action to fix potholes and improve county roads.

And drivers will benefit from better journeys as Worcestershire County Council puts its £30 million road maintenance programme into overdrive.

The cash boost, due in April, comes alongside Department for Transport plans to minimise disruption from road works and improve the way they are reported by councils.

Dame Harriett said: “This announcement is great news for drivers as Worcestershire’s roads are generally well maintained but with the cold and wet weather there is always an increased risk of potholes.

“Many drivers report to me that they welcome the efforts our county council takes to carry out swift repairs and there is a handy website which allows road users to highlight problems.

“This additional cash will allow the council to do an even better job. At this time of year, potholes can appear quickly and can result in expensive damage to vehicles so even swifter effective action will be highly welcomed by road users.”
