Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will suspend trading during the morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 pm). However, trading will resume as usual for the evening session, from 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm.
Maharashtra Day marks one of the 14 total stock market holidays scheduled in 2025. With May 1 approaching, seven more non-trading days remain for the rest of the year. These include:
- August 15 – Independence Day
- August 27 – Ganesh Chaturthi
- October 2 – Gandhi Jayanti
- October 21 – Diwali Laxmi Pujan (only Muhurat trading expected)
- October 22 – Diwali Balipratipada
- November 5 – Gurpurab
- December 25 – Christmas
In addition to the market shutdown, several banks across India will also observe a holiday on May 1. Cities affected include Mumbai, Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kolkata, Kochi, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Imphal, and Thiruvananthapuram, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s official holiday calendar for May 2025.
