Robert Irwin has opened up over claims his recent internet-breaking photoshoot for bonds was ‘digitally altered.’
The 21-year-old wildlife warrior set pulses racing earlier this month after posing in a series of steamy snaps promoting the iconic Aussie underwear brand in the US.
Robert appeared on Today on Tuesday, to discuss his pulse raising shoot that saw him posing, nearly naked, while a spider and a snake crawled about his person.
Host Karl Stefanovic, referencing chatter in some cynical corners of the internet, asked Robert to come clean about the authenticity of the images.
‘Was anything digitally altered in those images? Because I don’t think anyone believes the spider was real,’ Karl joked.
Robert quickly put paid to the suggestion of digital chicanery, revealing that everything that appeared in the images was 100 per cent real.

‘Mate, everything is 100 per cent real,’ Robert confirmed.
‘Everything you see was all there. The spider – that was right there, the beautiful big black headed python that was all there.’
Robert continued: ‘My abs – none of that was airbrushed. That was a lot of work – a lot of work and very little carbohydrates.’
Karl then asked Robert to clarify claims, published by New idea, that mum Terri had a problem with the Bonds shoot as it did not align with the Irwin family-friendly brand.
‘Mum was fully on board,’ Robert revealed. ‘[She] used to do bodybuilding so she was actually giving me tips.
‘Bindi took a bit of convincing. It was a bit uncomfortable.
‘I’m still not 100 per cent comfortable with some of it anyway, but you know what? We did it and you just got to own it and give it your all,’ he said.
With Robert’s steamy shoot setting hearts aflutter across the globe, Karl asked the I’m A Celebrity host how he is dealing with all the attention.

‘It’s not easy dealing with all of the fallout from this stuff,’ Karl said. ‘Not easy dealing with all these cougars like Sarah [Abo, Today co-host] who want you to get your gear off all the time. How do you handle that kind of attention?’
‘I must say this whole process has been an eye opening experience, that’s for sure. I’ve always dealt with wildlife, but this is the wildest thing I’ve ever dealt with.
‘For me there’s a conservation mission and legacy behind everything I do. the outpouring of support has been amazing, but mostly for my mission, for my message. Everyone is listening to it.’
The chat, which was shared to the Today Instagram page, drew a flurry of fawning comments from fans.
‘Am I wrong for perving on him being 30yrs older… he’s a mother’s son-in-law Dream,’ one fan wrote, summing up the sentiment of many.
Robert, who is the son of the late icon Steve Irwin, posed in a series of smoking pictures for People Magazine as he modeled Bonds, the Australian underwear brand that he’s helping bring to the U.S.

In one picture, Robert left little to the imagination as he wore a pair of white underwear, giving a smoldering look to the camera as a large snake was wrapped around his neck.
He also draped the snake around himself as he sat down in a chair in a pair of black Bonds underwear, showing off his washboard abs.
In another snap, he cuddled with a large lizard, but this time, Robert was more covered up in a casual white tank top and dark teal undies.
Robert later proved he’s not afraid of anything as the former zookeeper even had a large spider crawling up his arm as he lay with one leg up in the grass, showing off a pair of the gray boxers.
The photos have since gone viral, with fans from all around the world swooning at the all grown-up Robert.
