Norwich City youngster Ken Aboh attracting EFL loan interest

The teenager signed a fresh Carrow Road contract earlier this summer after plenty of chatter around his future in the second half of last season but opted to commit to a new three-year deal at Carrow Road.

Now, a loan move looks set to be his next step with a host of clubs, including the Magpies, displaying a strong desire in signing him for the rest of the season.

Norwich have a strong relationship with Notts County after Jaden Warner spent time at Meadow Lane on loan last season.

Aboh netted one and assisted four for the Canaries U21s in their 6-1 drubbing over West Brom at Colney in their Premier League Two campaign. The teenager was prolific at that level last term, scoring 11 times in 15 matches.

He spent the second half of the season as part of City’s first-team squad under David Wagner, making his senior debut as a late substitute in a 5-0 drubbing of Rotherham United at Carrow Road in March.

The striker has played a role in pre-season under Johannes Hoff Thorup, netting in their opening friendly against Northampton last month.

Thorup confirmed that the loan route might be an option for the highly-rated teenager this season, but City may wait until they source another senior striker before sanctioning any temporary exit.

“Let’s find out in a couple of weeks what is the best for him,” said the Dane back in pre-season. “For now it is for him to get in shape with the rest of the team and to find out the way that we’re going to do things and then of course, to show what he can do. I think he’s a great striker.

“And I think there’s a big potential; some great movements, he’s one of those classic strikers that are really, really good at running off the back of the defenders, you know, having these small movements in and around the box, and so on, where he’s very, very clever.

“So definitely, definitely a player with a future here. And then, in a couple of weeks’ time, we have to find out what will be the best solution for him for the next six months and next season.”
