Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The stock market extended its winning streak on Thursday, buoyed by positive global cues and the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) liquidity push. The Nifty reclaimed the 22,500 mark, closing at a two-week high of 22,545, up 207 points, while the Sensex surged 610 points to settle at 74,340. The rally saw 40 out of 50 Nifty stocks end in the green, with broad-based gains across sectors.
Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Investor sentiment remained upbeat as BSE-listed companies added over ₹12 lakh crore in market capitalization. The banking and midcap segments also contributed to the uptrend, with the Nifty Bank rising 138 points to 48,628 and the midcap index climbing 180 points to 49,348.
Reliance Industries gained over 2%, driven by positive brokerage notes, while crude derivative stocks, including paint and tyre companies, surged as Brent crude slipped below $70 per barrel. Oil marketing companies also witnessed strong buying interest, rising 3-4% on the fall in crude prices.
Among the top gainers, Asian Paints led the Nifty pack, followed by Coal India, BPCL, and NTPC. Metal stocks found support from global cues, with Hindalco and Tata Steel gaining 3-4%. In the midcap space, MGL, Godrej Consumer, HPCL, IIFL Finance, Dr Lal PathLabs, and CAMS emerged as top performers.
