Morrisons is making a wholesome change to their in-store cafes, offering over 60s a breakfast and unlimited hot drink for just £5- a saving of up to £3. Launched on February 27, the change was introduced to help elderly customers stretch their pensions further amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The ‘OAPension-Friendly Breakfast’ has been rolled out in all 406 Morrisons Cafés in the UK. The brecky includes sausage, bacon, fried egg, hash brown, Heinz Baked Beans, toast and butter, complemented by any refillable hot beverage.

Chris Strong, Senior Café Buying Manager at Morrisons, commented: “We know it’s been a cold few months for our loyal senior customers, and with the rising cost of living, we wanted to give something back and help their pensions go a little further.”

He added: “We know our cafés can be the heart of local communities and nothing beats a full English breakfast, especially when there are savings to be had.”

“Whether it’s enjoyed solo, or while meeting up with friends or family, our OAPension-Friendly Breakfast hopes to bring a little extra joy in the coming months.” Seniors need only inform staff they are over 60 to enjoy this wallet-friendly treat, reports the Express.

Nearly half (49%) of the elderly have turned down social outings due to financial constraints, and Morrisons aims to combat this by creating a comfortable and economical spot for community gatherings.

Yorkshire Live reports that three months after the revamp of the Morrisons More card, the supermarket is now offering five More Card points for every item sold both in-store and online, be it through their own site or Amazon groceries.

A spokesperson commented: “Morrisons is offering five More Card Points on every single product in-store as well as online, in convenience stores and on Amazon.”

They added: “The move means that Morrisons loyalty scheme customers can now earn More Card Points on everything they buy and claim coveted Morrisons Fivers faster.”
