A meal out might be Britons’ most popular way to spend money this Valentine’s Day (more on that in the Money blog later) – but if you’re planning to eat in at home, you can get some great deals from supermarkets.
Some are offering deals for as little as £6 per person – meaning you can still treat that special someone on a budget.
Here is a quick round-up…
Aldi
Coming in at the cheapest is Aldi, where you can get a starter, main, side, dessert and prosecco for £11.71.
That means you’ll be spending £5.86 per person.
The items are all individually priced rather than coming as a bundle, so you could spend less if you wanted to.
Among the options are the Specially Selected Gastro Duck Breast With Plum and Hoisin (£2.99), the Specially Selected Heart Shaped Lobster Filled Fresh Pasta (£2.99), and the Dessert Menu Mini Love Pancakes (£1.49).
Asda
For £11.97, you can get a starter, main, two sides, a pudding and cava.
This comes as a bundle, and you’d end up paying up to £12.86 more if you bought items individually.
The options include a Bistro Prawn Cocktail, Sirloin with Smoked Garlic & Pink Peppercorn Heart Butter Pellet, and Bistro Vanilla Panna Cotta Hearts with Heritage Raspberry & Prosecco Jelly.
M&S
The most expensive meal deal comes from M&S, which costs £25 for a starter, main, side, dessert and prosecco.
However 15 items have been added to the selection this year.
In this deal you can get items such as Coquilles St Jacques, British Chicken Breast Paupiettes and a Baking Burrata with ‘Nduja and Ciabatta Crumb.
Morrisons
Another of the big savings comes from Morrisons, which offers More Card customers a meal deal for £15.
This includes a starter, main, side, dessert and prosecco.
Shoppers can save up to £18.25 with this deal, and can get options such as The Best Valentine’s 2 Shorthorn Pulled Beef En Croute, Gu Spanish Lemon Cheesecake Desserts, and The Best Valentine’s 2 Rump Steaks With Peppercorn Butter.
Tesco
If you’re a Clubcard customer, you can get this deal for £18.
You’ll get a starter, main, side, dessert and drink, saving you up to £15.75.
Some of the options are the Tesco Finest Dine In All Forno Lasagne, the Tesco Finest Belgian Chocolate Brownie Heart, and the Tesco Finest Camembert Swirls.
Sainsbury’s
Nectar card holders can get this Valentine’s deal for £18.
It includes a starter, main, side, dessert and drink, saving customers up to £13.25.
Taste The Difference Breaded Camemberts, Taste The Difference Duck Legs with Cherry Teriyaki Glaze and Taste The Difference Sticky Toffee Puddings are all available in the deal.
Waitrose
Another of the more expensive options comes from Waitrose, which is charging £20 for its meal deal, however there is a decent saving to be had.
Shoppers can get a starter, main, side, dessert and prosecco with the offer – saving them up to £18.65.
You’ll get some pretty decent options too: No.1 Moules Mariniere with Wild Garlic & Chardonnay, No.1 Paella, and English Cheesecake Company Vanilla & Biscoff Slices.
