BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., recently visited Laredo, Texas to gauge the border crisis. He says Congress must address the issue and opposes Louisiana spending money to help.
“Texas has got so much money. They’re spending $400 million to fix up the Alamo. They just got all kinds of money. So I would rather take our dollars and spend them here. By the way, I’m all for the governor fighting crime and I’m glad they are having this session. Let’s spend that money fighting crime,” said Cassidy.
Gov. Jeff Landry approved troops going to the border earlier this month after the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness officially received a request from Texas for assistance.
