Deadline: 31-Oct-2025

The National Research, Development and Innovation Fund has announced call to support activities aimed at obtaining domestic and international industrial property protection for intellectual creations.

The focus of this call is the support of activities fostering the domestic and international protection of intellectual property with the aim of facilitating the utilisation of such intellectual property.

The call offers a total budget of HUF 500 million with funding intensity set at 100 percent. Depending on the activity, funding ranges between HUF 100,000 and HUF 7,500,000 per project, with private individuals eligible for up to HUF 7.5 million. The expected number of funded applications is between 125 and 350, with projects lasting for 18 months.

Eligible applicants include private individuals residing in Hungary, as well as legal entities with registered seats in Hungary or in the European Economic Area with a branch office in Hungary. Beneficiary groups include higher education institutions, non-profit organisations, enterprises, research organisations, budgetary institutions, and members of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network.

Funding covers a wide range of intellectual property protection activities including Hungarian patent, utility model, or plant variety protection applications, applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), commencement of national or regional procedures under the PCT, validation of European patents, and applications for Hungarian, European Union, international trademarks, and design protection. One applicant may apply multiple times during the call but only once for the same activity under the same protection type. In a single year, up to five combined trademark registrations (domestic, EU, international) may be funded.

Applications can only be submitted electronically through the Participant Portal, with proposals finalised and authenticated either via a qualified electronic signature or the ePaper service. The NRDI Office is responsible for evaluating proposals.
