PMT Norwich near Anglia Square goes into administration

PMT Norwich (Professional Music Technology) closed its New Botolph Street shop after 17 years of selling a range of instruments such as guitars, keyboards and drumkits.

S & T Audio Limited, trading as “PMT Play Music Today” entered administration on June 11 this year and is no longer trading.

Customers looking to visit the PMT website are directed to Gears4Music which has purchased certain stock – along with certain intangible assets including websites and trademarks – from the Administrators of PMT.

On the website it states: “The closure of PMT will be felt across the music community.

“It’s a change that will be felt not only by customers, but by the people behind the brand and across the wider music community that PMT served for many years.

“Like many of you, we were saddened to hear the news.

“Over the years, we’ve worked alongside the same suppliers, shared industry spaces, and even welcomed a few former colleagues into our team.

The site also confirmed certain items would not be fulfilled, adding: “Unfortunately, if your order was placed with the insolvent company and not fulfilled prior to the asset sale being June 11, 2025, it won’t be fulfilled.

“Customers may be able to make a claim as an unsecured creditor in the insolvency.”

A note outside the site’s gates states: “This store is closed.

“The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the administrators of S & T Audio Limited – Richard Harrison and Howard Smith.”

PMT arrived to the city in 2008, first setting up shop in Anglia Square.

In 2012 the shop moved a short distance away, opening at the former furniture showroom, Wallace Kings, at the corner of Botolph Street and St Augustine’s Street.
