Following significant investment last year in both machinery and site facilities, Leeds-based packaging company Roberts Mart has committed a further £3.2m to the purchase of new machinery.
The sixth-generation, family-owned and managed business has acquired a new laminator from Nordmeccanica and a Joker® bag machine is due to be installed in June. Later in the year, a stand-up pouch conversion machine will arrive from Karlville in Switzerland.
In addition, a three-layer Optimex film extruder from Windmöller & Hölscher is also on order which will be installed at Roberts Mart in February 2026.
The line creates consistent, high-quality film, offering increased output rates and enhanced flexibility. t can be used with all types of polyethylene, including recycled materials.
Investment in the new machines will support Roberts Mart’s continued growth in the markets it supplies, particularly the food and drink sectors.
Ben Roberts, marketing director, said: “Staying ahead of the competition and investing in the future is a fundamental part of our business strategy.
“These significant investments demonstrate the firm’s commitment to developing and offering customers a wide range of innovative packaging solutions that fit budget and sustainability goals.”
The firm has also bought ancillary equipment, including an automatic labeller for applying RFID labels on bags and a continuous sealer for adding heat seals to film on the reel applications.
Founded in 1852, Roberts Mart today employs over 245 staff, supplying packaging solutions for brands across the UK and Europe, predominantly in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors.
Turnover is expected to reach over £53m by the end of 2025.
