New light has been shed on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s legal drama after the rapper included their daughter North in a song with Diddy – much to the KUTWK star’s objections.
In screenshots of a supposed conversation between Kanye and Kim, the reality star, 44, appeared to reveal she that she held the copyright to their daughter’s name and was using it to try to prevent North from being included in a track with Diddy – provoking a furious reaction from her ex, 47.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office reveals that several of North’s trademarks have expired, with the 11-year appearing to have just one active trademark.
The expired trademarks consist of one covering various advertising and endorsement services, one geared towards the world of celebrity, one covering cosmetics, one for promotional and endorsement services, and another for clothing.
North’s sole active trademark covers toys.

The expired trademarks are currently marked as ‘dead’ and ‘abandoned’, and all of them – including the active trademark – have ‘Kimsaprincess Inc.’ listed as the owner.
The legal protection covering advertising was filed on March 10, 2023, published on June 20, but was ‘abandoned’ on March 18, 2024. A trademark for an identical purpose but which did not contain ‘retail store services featuring hair care and hair styling product’ was also previously filed and abandoned.
The goods and services protected in this particular trademark were for: ‘Advertising services, namely, promoting the brands, goods and services of others; Endorsement services, namely, promoting the goods and services of others; Providing information about commercial business and commercial information via the global computer network; Retail store services featuring gifts, general consumer merchandise, apparel, apparel accessories, toys, sporting goods, beauty products, cosmetics, skincare and fragrances; retail store services featuring hair care and hair styling products.’
The one for celebrity reads: ‘Entertainment in the nature of providing information by means of a global computer network in the fields of entertainment and pop culture; entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a celebrity.’ It was filed on February 12, 2019, published in December of that year, before it was abandoned on April 3, 2023. A similar trademark was also previously filed and abandoned.
Another trademark protecting clothing reads: ‘Bottoms as clothing; coats; dresses; footwear; headwear; jackets; jumpers; loungewear; rompers; scarves; shirts; sweaters; tops as clothing; undergarments; socks; hosiery; swimwear; cloth bibs; gloves; sleepwear; one piece garment for infants and toddlers; costumes for use in children’s dress up play.’ It was filed on February 12, 2019, published August 4, 2020, and then abandoned October 30, 2023.
One trademark also covers cosmetics. ‘Non-medicated skin care preparations; Skin moisturizers; Skin lotions; Skin creams; Skin cleansers; Non-medicated skin care preparation, namely, skin serums; Facial oils; Body oils; bath and shower gels; bubble bath; body powders; Cosmetics; Cosmetic preparations; Fragrances; hair care preparations; hair styling preparations; nail polish; nail polish remover; nail care preparations; Hair care products, namely, hair shampoos, hair conditioners; hair masks; hair detangling preparations; leave-in hair conditioner; dry shampoo; hair spray; hair oils; hair gels; hair mousse; hair dye,’ it reads.
It was filed on March 10, 2023, published June 20, 2023, and then abandoned March 18, 2024.
The trademarks were all abandoned for the same reason, with the status stating the protections were ‘abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.’
North’s active trademark covers toys.

The Sun first reported of the expired trademarks, and noted that the only parent to have signed for them was Kim.
‘Kim Kardashian West, hereby state that I am the parent of North West, a minor, and give my consent to the registration of North West’s name and/or nickname to Kimsaprincess Inc,’ the documents state, according to The Sun.
The outlet also notes that trademarks protecting similar goods and services for Kim and Kanye’s three other children, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago, have also expired.
Kim was reportedly left furious over the weekend after Kanye released a song by Diddy which features North’s voice, with the rapper also sharing – then deleting – threatening texts with the reality star where he threatened to ‘go to war’ with her.
Diddy, 55, is currently in jail awaiting trial on charges including sex trafficking, and after the song was uploaded, a source has shared that Kim – who previously trademarked her children’s names – has sought legal action to prevent its release and have it taken down from X.

West posted a new song on X called LONELY ROADS STILL GO TO SUNSHINE, apparently featuring Diddy, Diddy’s son Christian ‘King’ Combs and North.
The song opens with what sounds like Diddy’s voice thanking Kanye for his support, mentioning that no one else has reached out to him while he remains in jail awaiting trial on charges including sex trafficking.
Kanye responds by calling Diddy a father figure, even before they knew each other personally. North makes a brief but noticeable appearance, rapping, ‘When you see me shining, then you see the light,’ while Christian Combs delivers his own verse.
A source exclusively informed DailyMail.com that Kardashian took legal action to prevent the track’s release and is now ‘working to get the song down off of X.’

The grabs then show her evidently admonishing West to ‘stop,’ saying: ‘I sent paper work over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song To protect her’.
Kardashian, who is an aspiring lawyer, allegedly continues: ‘One person has to trademark! We agreed when they were born i would get all of our kids names and trademarks So no would else would take them.’
West is seen to be unmoved, purportedly retorting: ‘Amend it or I’m going to war And neither of us will recover from the public fallout,’ then darkly declaring: ‘You’re going to have to kill me.’
In the wake of the song’s release, a source exclusively informed DailyMail.com that Kardashian ‘will do whatever it takes to protect her kids from the hateful speech that Kanye continues to spur at this time.’
The insider added that Kardashian ‘has requested through a judge to not allow the kids to be around that type of behavior.’
According to insiders, North recently spent time in the studio with Kanye—their first visit in weeks—where she recorded vocals for the track, via TMZ.

After learning about the track, sources claim Kardashian sent cease-and-desist letters demanding that Kanye not move forward with its release.
An emergency hearing reportedly took place, which Kanye did not attend, where he allegedly agreed to hold off on dropping the track.
Kardashian is said to be particularly concerned about North’s involvement due to the ongoing legal troubles surrounding Diddy, who is currently facing federal sex trafficking allegations.
Insiders say she has been working behind the scenes to keep North out of the situation.

With the song now out, that battle seems to have officially begun.
