Hunters in New York can now purchase their hunting and trapping licenses for the 2024-2025 season, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The licenses, valid from September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2025, are now on sale, along with deer management permits.
For the first time, hunting and trapping licenses will be printed on plain paper instead of plastic stock, allowing hunters to print their licenses and tags at home when purchased online or by phone. Licenses are also available in person through DEC-authorized vendors.
This season also marks the end of the requirement for hunters to wear back tags in the field, though they must still carry proof of licensure, either in paper form or electronically via the HuntFishNY app. More information is available on the DEC’s website.
